I just started a newly bought Pavilion and the screen colors seem almost "yellow-ish" like they are faded/washed out. I looked this into the HP support and found other users that had the same problems. I already tried the following solutions:

- Adjust diplay settings: saturation, brightness and contrast all correct;

- Update Graphic Driver: i did it and nothing changed;

- Calibrate display: i tried this as well but it just makes the screen more white, it does not really correct colors, so that is not the issue;

- check for night setting of some sort: they are switched off;

- i even tried to reset the laptop but the issue is still here.

my old HP laptop has much better colors, this new one has a yellow tone to everything which i cannot understand if it is just the way it is or it is some kind of setting i can change.

Hi @Albe21,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’ve already tried several of the standard troubleshooting steps. Given that the colors on your new HP Pavilion laptop appear washed out or yellowish, it might be related to the display's color profile or a hardware issue. Here are a few more things you could try.

Check the Color Profile

  • Open Color Management:
    • Press Win + R, type control color, and press Enter.
  • Add a Default Profile:
    • Go to the Advanced tab, and click on Change system defaults.
    • Under the Advanced tab, choose a different color profile from the drop-down menu (e.g., sRGB IEC61966-2.1) and click Add.

Adjust the Display’s Color Temperature

  • HP Display Settings:
    • Sometimes HP laptops come with a display management application (like HP Display Control) that allows you to adjust the color temperature. Look for such an application in your start menu or system tray.

Check the Display Settings in Windows

  • Open Settings:
    • Go to Settings > System > Display.
  • Advanced Display Settings:
    • Click on Advanced display settings and then Display adapter properties.
  • Color Management:
    • Under the Color Management tab, ensure that your monitor’s color profile is set to default.

Update or Roll Back Graphics Drivers

  • Device Manager:
    • Open Device Manager, find your display adapter, and check if there are any newer drivers available or try rolling back to a previous version.

Perform a Hardware Test

  • HP Support Assistant:
    • Use the HP Support Assistant to run hardware diagnostics and check for any potential issues with the display hardware.

Inspect for Physical Issues

  • Screen Connection:
    • If you’re comfortable with it, you might want to check if the internal display connector is securely attached. This should be done by a professional if you're unsure.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
