HP Notebook - 14-dg0521sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi community,

I'm trying to get the webcam working on this 14-dg0521sa  notebook but I just see a blank image (Zoom, YouCam, Windows Camera). The audio works fine.

I've tried updating the driver in Device Manager but it says it's up to date. I've tried uninstalling and scanning for changes to reinstall, no joy. Windows updates are current.

I'm not sure what else to try? The HP drivers page doesn't have any specific drivers for this device?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Please download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Hi, I also have problems with my HP True Vision HD camera but I have been through all the steps mentioned to the previous user - I've checked all software and windows is up to date and have also checked Device Manager which states the camera is up to date and working properly etc.  I have a HP Laptop 14-cm0xxx and purchased it less than a year ago. I had not used the webcam before now but since doing so over the past few weeks it appears temperamental when I have tried using it with Skype and also just opening up the camera app. Sometimes it shows no image at all and other times it works for a few seconds and then disappears.  Do you have any further advice before I consider seeking a new laptop under the warranty?

I suggest you perform a Reset and let me know if that helps

Hi, thanks for your response.  I've just tried a reset (the option that lets me keep my personal files) but unfortunately the problem with the webcam remains the same.  Can you advise on what my next step should be?  Thanks.

@SwishWez

Please perform a Webcam Test and check if the webcam gets detected during the test

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Webcam

Hi, I've now performed the test and the webcam has passed but the problem remains.  For additional info, when I open the Windows Camera App or test it on Skype settings, the camera light is always on even though there is no image.  Appreciate the help so far.  Any further advice?
