Hi @A1996t,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP laptop is getting stuck at the HP logo screen with the loading cursor, which can happen for various reasons such as issues with boot settings, hardware, or system files.
Here are some troubleshooting steps to try.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Power off the laptop completely by holding down the power button for at least 10 seconds.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, peripherals, etc.).
- Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the power adapter (without the battery, if it's removable) and turn the laptop on again.
Boot into Safe Mode
- Turn off the laptop and turn it back on. As soon as the HP logo appears, repeatedly press the F8 or F11 key (depending on your model) to access the Advanced Boot Options or Windows Recovery menu.
- Select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking. If you can boot into Safe Mode, there may be a software issue like a recent update or driver problem.
- Once in Safe Mode, try uninstalling any recent updates or drivers.
Run Startup Repair
- If you can access the Windows Recovery Environment (by pressing F11 or ESC during startup), go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
- Follow the instructions to try to repair startup issues.
Check BIOS Settings
- Power off the laptop and turn it back on, immediately pressing F10 to access the BIOS.
- Once in the BIOS, make sure the boot order is correct (your primary drive should be set to boot first).
- Also, verify that Secure Boot is enabled and Legacy Boot is disabled.
- Save any changes and exit the BIOS.
Perform a System Restore
- If you can access Windows Recovery (F11 or ESC during startup), select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the problem started and follow the instructions to restore the system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
