Hello All,
I have a new HP 250 G8 Notebook for work. They have supplied me with a HP USB-C Dock G5 as well.
I have a Display port to HDMI cable, but my monitor (HP V243) only has VGA and DVI-D ports, so I have bought a DVI-D to HDMI adaptor.
So, the dock is connected to the Display port of the cable. The other end of the cable is connected to the HDMI side of the adaptor and then plugged into the DVI-D port of the monitor. I have changed the input to DVI using the on-screen controls, but the monitor says no input detected and Windows 10 will not detect the monitor.
Anyone got any idea what I am doing wrong?
The only thing I can think of is that the adaptor only works in the other direction, so DVI output to HDMI input. I am using it so the signal is trying to go through it from the laptop to the HDMI port on the adaptor to the DVI port, which is connected to the monitor. Do these adaptors only go one-way?

Too many middle men. The dock can connect to 3 FHD monitors (I tested it) using 2 DP ports and 1 HDMI port. You can use a direct cable from HDMI (dock) to DVI (monitor), no middle man. You can use DP ports for other monitors.
Regards.
