Sometimes I can't wake my computer up from sleep mode. Websites tell me to go to device manager, go to keyboard and go to power management tab. There is no power management tab. The settings button is greyed out. What can I do? Other solutions to solve computer sleep problem won't work.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I understand that you are unable to wake your Notebook up from sleep mode.
I'll try my best to help 😊
Let's start with a hard reset. You can refer to this link: https://hp.care/2nwQ054
Next update the Graphics drivers, Chipset drivers and BIOS
- Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
- Check the box that states delete the software for this device. Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers .
- Note: Select the country and type the product# of the computer. Then select the correct operating system and follow the on-screen instructions
If the issue persists, try these
- Go to Control Panel, then click Power Options.
- From the Select a power plan page, click Choose what the power buttons do from the list on the left panel.
- On the Define power buttons and turn on password protection page, you then have the option of choosing what happens when you:
- press the power button
- press the sleep button
- When I close the lid- select the sleep option (not shutdown or hibernate)
- Now check again if the issue is resolved
- If it does not work then please perform all the prescribed steps from this HP Document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03383935
Also change the power plan and set it to high performance from this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04752217
Now check for issue resolution.
If the issue persists, try these steps:
- Select the Start button, and search for Command prompt.
- In the list of results, right-click Command prompt, and then select Run as administrator.
- Type the following commands, and press Enter after each command:
- DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
- DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Next Perform a System File Checker scan. Please follow the steps in this Link: hp.care/2EHUhMn
Now check if it gets fixed.
If it continues then try these steps:
- Right-click on the small Battery Changing icon on the bottom right-hand corner and select Power Options
- Click on Change Plan Settings next to what power plan is selected.
- Click on Change advanced power settings
- Expand Sleep and make sure to set Allow hybrid sleep and Hibernate after to Never or 0
- Expand Hard Disk and set Turn off hard disk after to Never or 0
- Click Apply then OK
- If the issue still persists, then create a new user account as an administrator from this Link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4026923/windows-10-create-a-local-user-or-administrator-acc...
Log in as the New User and check if that resolves the issue
If none of those steps resolve the problem, please backup your data and perform a Microsoft Push Button reset to factory settings by following instructions from this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04742289
Please perform these steps at your convenience and keep me posted how it goes 👍
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Since Windows OS manages Device Manager and the Options, you cannot manage the power options directly from Device Manager or Add / Remove any Tabs
Thank you

If I was using a Dell laptop then I could use this solution...
(Pasted from a different website)
1. Restart your laptop and immediately start tapping the F2 key
2. In a few minutes or less, you should see the Bios screen
3. On the left of the screen, find "Power Management" and select it.
4. Find "USB Wake Support" and select it.
5. Check the box "Enable USB Wake Support"
6. Apply/save the changes and exit
7. Allow your laptop to boot normally (no need to press F2 again).
8. Follow Terry's steps (above - from an earlier reply), which outlines how to enable wake on mouse within Windows 10.
But the hp bios screen can't do this. I'm convinced there's a solution to this, but thank you anyway.

Hi
I have a brand new ZBOOK 17
Brand new yes brand new.
Thi **bleep** machine is unable to wakeup from sleep from the mouse or keyboard
Installed HP assistant and updated all drivers
In device manager, mouse and keyboard, there is no PowerManagement tab.
I deleted bothe device from Device Manager and redetect them.
Tried updating the drivers. I have the latest drivers.
Nothing works. Still no Power Management tab.
THIS IS A BIOS ISSUE. Not w a Windows Issue.
I am quite certain that the BIOS is laking the feature to wake the computer from sleep.
In ALL BIOS of my previous computers their was a few Energy options in the BIOS.
My ZBOOK has nothing about Energy. It has a vanilla BIOS with no Energy feature.
Please help
I am about to return the machine to where I bought it.

Hi
I have a brand new ZBOOK 17
Brand new yes brand new.
This machine is unable to wakeup from sleep from the INTERNAL mouse or keyboard.
It is able to wake up from the Power button or LID.
(lets resolve this first. My objective is to wake it up from a USB mouse and keyboard. Since it does not work fro the internal machine component I dont expect it to work from and external mouse and keyboard at this point)
