Pavilion 15 cs0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to connect 2 extra displays (HP LA 2205) at my laptop (HP Pavilion 15cs0xxx)

I have a cable HDMI to DVI-D for one screen. That fits and is ok.

The second one I want to use de USB-c port to DisplayPort or DVI-D. And there is a problem. There is no signal. When I connect directly USB-C tot the DVI-D or DisplayPort there is no signal. When I connect USB-C via HDMI to DVI-D there is no signal. When I connect HDMI to DVI-D there is a signal.

When I connect a mouse or keyboard via a USB-adapter in the USB-C-port, there is a signal and that works ok.

So my conclusion is there is no videosignal through the USB-C-port, but there should be.

Is my conclusion correct? What's the solution? How can I connect 2 extra displays at my laptop?

Your machine has

  • 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge);
  • 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge);
  • 1 HDMI 1.4;
  • 1 RJ-45;
  • 1 headphone/microphone combo

Note: the USB-C is actually the USB 3.1 Gen 1. You can't expect it works like the second generation.

Now, just forget HDMI port (totally disconnect HDMI port), can you use USB-C to DisplayPort on monitor directly ?

Regards.

I tried the USB-C single with the Display-port. There is no signal.

(what's the difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2?)

Did you use NATIVE cable (no conversion) ? For USB 2.1 Gen 1 and Gen 2
