Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg1000 43F53AV (product 4S157UA), which I am trying to connect to a docking station with 2 monitors a mouse and a keyboard.
The KVM docking station is an AV Access iDock C20. On the docking station I have connected 2 HDMI monitor screens, a mouse, a keyboard and the power adapter that comes with it.
I connect my laptop to the docking station via the provided USB-C cable: the mouse keyboard works, and my laptop battery charges, but I am not getting ANY display on the screens. I tested with other Laptops (Other HP and Dell, and everything works, Keyboard, mouse, HDMI monitors and PD charging). Both monitor screens are connected HDMI to the KVM docking station. All I wan to do is get mouse, keyboard and duo monitors working for 2 laptops that I can switch between them. I am not interested in 4k resolution just normal HD.
I checked the specs of my laptop and the specs of the USB-C port says "1 USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge)". So it should work, but I am not getting any display. Any help or guidance on this is much appreciated.

Hi @OuterSpace
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’re having trouble getting your HP Pavilion Laptop (15-eg1000) to display on the monitors connected through the AV Access iDock C20 KVM Docking Station via USB-C. You've mentioned that the mouse, keyboard, and power charging are working, but you're not getting any display output.
Let's troubleshoot this issue and go over the steps that may resolve the display problem.
Step 1: Verify DisplayPort over USB-C
The USB-C port on your laptop supports DisplayPort™ 1.4, which is capable of video output, but it’s important to ensure that the dock and your laptop are properly supporting DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt Mode).
Check the Specifications of Your Dock: Ensure the AV Access iDock C20 KVM Docking Station supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode through USB-C for video output. Some docks only provide power and data through USB-C and may require a separate video signal (e.g., HDMI) to function correctly with certain laptops.
Check Laptop USB-C Port:
- Your HP Pavilion’s USB-C port should support DisplayPort 1.4, which allows video output. However, not all USB-C ports automatically output video — it could depend on whether your laptop specifically supports video over USB-C.
- Go to Device Manager > Display adapters and see if your laptop has an entry that mentions DisplayPort.
- Check your laptop's official manual or product page to verify if video output via USB-C is explicitly mentioned.
Step 2: Test the Docking Station with Another Laptop
You’ve already tested the docking station with other laptops (HP and Dell), and they work fine. However, it’s important to ensure that the specific USB-C port you are using on your HP Pavilion can output video.
Use a Different USB-C Port (if available): If your laptop has more than one USB-C port, try connecting the docking station to a different one. It's possible that only one of the ports supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode.
Test with Another USB-C Device: To confirm that your laptop’s USB-C port supports video output, try connecting your laptop to a USB-C to HDMI adapter (or directly to a USB-C monitor, if available) to see if the laptop can send video through the USB-C port.
Step 3: Update Drivers and BIOS
Ensure that your graphics drivers and BIOS are up-to-date, as these updates can sometimes resolve display issues with docking stations.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager > Display adapters > Right-click on your display adapter and select Update driver.
- Alternatively, visit the HP Support Website and search for the latest graphics driver for your laptop model.
Update BIOS and Firmware:
- Visit the HP Support Website and check if there’s a newer BIOS update for your laptop model (HP Pavilion 15-eg1000).
- Sometimes BIOS updates fix compatibility issues with docking stations or USB-C ports.
I hope this helps.

Hello Sneha_01,
Thanks for your reply, I checked the product specs and it says it supports DisplayPort 1.4, also the the KVM switch works fine with other Dell and HP Laptops.
I did check the graphics card driver and updated to the latest Driver from the Intel Graphics website. But problem persists.
I also did update to the latest BIOS driver from the HP website. But issues persists.
THanks,

Hi @OuterSpace,
Thank you for your response. It sounds like you've already tried a lot of the common troubleshooting steps, which is great. Since the KVM switch works fine with other laptops, and you've updated the graphics and BIOS drivers, it might be worth checking a few additional things:
USB-C Cable and Port Compatibility:
- Ensure that the USB-C port on your HP Pavilion fully supports video output (DisplayPort over USB-C). Some USB-C ports only support data transfer or charging, so double-check if your laptop’s USB-C port supports DisplayPort 1.4 for video.
- Try using a different USB-C cable, as sometimes the cable can be the issue.
Display Settings:
- On your HP Pavilion, try right-clicking on the desktop and selecting Display Settings. Under the Multiple displays section, make sure the system is detecting the external display.
- You can also press Windows + P and select either “Duplicate” or “Extend” to see if the system will send a signal to the KVM docking station.
KVM Docking Station Configuration:
- Ensure that the KVM switch is set to the correct input/output for your HP Pavilion. Sometimes, KVM switches have specific configuration buttons or switches to ensure the correct source is being recognized.
- Try powering off the KVM switch and restarting the connection sequence.
Intel Graphics Control Panel:
- Check if there are any specific settings in the Intel Graphics Control Panel (right-click on desktop > Intel Graphics Settings or Intel Graphics Command Center) that may help configure the external display correctly. Sometimes, toggling settings like "multiple displays" or the output resolution can resolve issues.
Test the HP Pavilion's Video Output:
- If you haven’t already, try connecting the HP Pavilion directly to a monitor using an HDMI or DisplayPort connection (without going through the KVM). This will confirm whether the problem is with the laptop’s video output itself or just the KVM docking station.
I hope this helps.
