Hi,
Laptop: HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2xxx
OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Home Single Language
Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with Radeon Graphics, 3301 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)
Dedicated GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU
Errors:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
Status: 01802400
DN_HAS_PROBLEM
DN_DISABLEABLE
DN_NT_ENUMERATOR
DN_NT_DRIVER
Problem Code: 0000002B
PCI Error Reporting: 00000007
What caused the problem: I switched off my laptop, disconnected adapter and opened the back to dust it off using a brush. I didn't disconnect anything. When I booted the computer back, everything was working fine except the NVIDIA GPU started showing the error.
What I have tried:
1. Disabling, enabling GPU
2. Deleting the device in the device manager and then scanning hardware changes to reinstall it. Noticed that when it adds nvlddmkm service, it doesn't show the error. It is only when it adds NVDisplay.ContainerLocalSystem the error shows up.
Started getting desperate especially because I didn't disconnect anything and I had done this before on my previous hp laptop without any issue happening.
3. Did all the scannow, DISM, memory check, startup OS checks, etc. No dice.
4. I then Used DDU to completely remove the NVIDIA stuff, restarted and then clean reinstalled the latest drivers. Still issue persists.
5. I then reset pc keeping my files. Didn't work.
6. Reset my pc removing my files. Didn't work.
7. Reset my pc selecting the option that removes all files from the Disk, preventing recovery. Didn't work.
8. Reinstalled my BIOS from HP page. Didn't work.
9. Installed older drivers for my GPU. Didn't work.
10. Flashed my GPU bios using nvflash. Didn't work.
I decided to give up to visit a service center but got busy due to work, so went on to messing with the Hardware.
11. Removed adapter, removed battery and held down the power off button for that elecrostatic removal thing.
12. Turned on the laptop with the battery disconnected.
13. Changed RAM slot.
14. Removed heat sink, and reapplied thermal paste on CPU and GPU.
I thought maybe disconnecting the GPU would help, but the GPU is soldered in so couldn't do anything there.
I am at a loss here. The computer works completely fine after all this, except The error 43 is still there on NVIDIA GPU.
GPU-Z detects NVIDIA GPU but doesn't show BIOS details or memory, etc. When I had nvflashed BIOS it was showing the BIOS version but after restarting it was not showing up.
In HP UEFI BIOS, also Nvidia is detected with the VBIOS version, but due to HP's limited BIOS options, there was nothing I could do there. I did try turning off Virtualization, but the error was still there.
I also tried stuff like max performance in power options, and turning off Link state power management, the NVIDIA error 43 error fixer batch file.
Right now I reset my pc again and just consoling myself with the fact that the laptop is about 4 years old and maybe it was time to move on in terms of gaming. Any insight would be appreciated of course with all the things I have done since the error appeared who knows if I made things worse.
Happy to provide any logs and error dumps.

Hi @ARSHANAD,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
"Thank you for sharing the steps you've already tried on your PC before reaching out. A '43 error' on an HP PC typically means that Windows has detected an issue with a hardware device, causing it to stop the device due to potential driver conflicts or hardware malfunctions. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve the issue."
Update drivers:
- Open Device Manager.
- Locate the device with the yellow exclamation mark (indicating a problem).
- Right-click on it and select "Update driver".
- Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software".
Reinstall drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the problematic device and select "Uninstall device".
- Check the "Delete the driver software for this device" box.
- Restart your computer, Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.
Roll back drivers:
- If updating drivers doesn't work, try rolling back to a previous version of the driver in Device Manager.
If you still face an issue, please request you to run the Hardware diagnostics on the PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
