OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-c0000 (343L4AV).
Windows 11 - 2022-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5008353)
AMD Radeon RX 6600M - 21.40.23.03-220118a-375709E
When using a 2nd monitor File explorer (or right-click menus) flicker and goes black (Does not happen within the laptop screen). You can see this below in the screenshots.
After
Before
I have tried different monitors from an old 60Hz one to my new 144hz one.
I have used many different HDMI cables and up to an 8K. Even tried a display port cable.
I have trolled the web for a fix and I have found nothing that works that fixes the problem.
This includes many Regedit fixes that were supposed to fix the windows 11 files explorer memory problems.
The best solution I have found is using the 3rd party file explorer called "Files".
But using "Files" doesn't fix it in some apps when you use the menus or right-click menus.
I am assuming it's a "Windows 11 / new file Explorer" problem not working with AMD Ryzen 7 / Radeon RX 6600M.
I have no problems playing games (eg. Doom Eternal)
I would love to know if anyone else is having this problem.
Is there a fix? or do we have to wait for more updates.
Has anyone tried installing Windows 10?
By the way,
I have duel booted LINUX (Manjaro) and I have no problems. (I would sack Windows today if I could)
Thanks
Glen

I am facing the exact same problem with OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-c0000 having AMD Radeon RX 6600M on the external display.
Tried so many different drivers. No luck so far! I am always using Windows 11. Haven't tried Windows 10 so far.
Like you mentioned I am facing the same problem on menus and file explorer. On file explorer frequency is higher.
Just want to ask have you upgraded the RAM etc?
In my case I upgraded to 32GB memory. And a new 2TB SSD nvme is installed in the second spare slot. I haven't used the laptop much before upgrading the RAM and SSD. So cannot say for sure if the problem was there before these updates.

Thanks for the reply, I think we may have something to work with.
My OMEM came with 32GB Ram, but I did install a 1TB SSD into the 2nd slot and loaded Windows 11 on it.
Like you, I didn't use the OMEN much before I installed the SSD and then I didn't really notice any problems.
Next week I will remove the 1TB SSD and go back to just using the stock 0.5TB with the stock Windows 11 install (I am glad I used CloneZilla to back it up in its original state ).
If using an SSD in the 2nd slot is causing the file explorer problem, the question got to be asked "why is it so"?
I still want to blame Windows11 and its new file explorer for not talking correctly to AMD 6600M GPU.

Its very diffcult to find any information on this issue. Google search hiths very few relevant searches so far.
Any way. Here is a link from currys UK website.
If you look in reviews. Someone by the name of Laurence from Aberystwyth, England reported the same exact issue. Apparently they have tried Windows 10 and Windows 11 both. Faced same problem on two identical machines. Its not sure if they have upgarded them or NOT and what was the status of SSD etc. My machine originally came with Windows 10. Unfortunately I do not have the original image that I could try with. One more thing that I noticed after installing 32GB RAM is System properties as follows Installed RAM 32.0GB (31.3 GB usable). I am not too sure why is OS not using full 32GB? Also I recently updated to BIOS : F.14-02/11/2022 and downgraded to driver version Non-WHQL-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-2020-21.7.1-Win10-64Bit-July15.exe from AMD which is very close to what HP support have for this machine on their website. The problem is some what reduced but NOT completely gone!
Besides that I have played couple of AAA game titels Halo Infinite, Halo4, Forza Horizion 5 and 4 on this machine. I never faced any such problem while playing these games.

It looks like many many people are facing this issue on this laptop. So far no one is able to fix that! Follow this link for more details.
I really hope that someone should fix it. As I like that laptop and it is very decent at this price!

I can confirm that after replacing the motherboard on my laptop the problem is GONE. But if it happend due to the bad design and over heating. I think it will come back again. Only time will tell. But for sure for the time being it is totally gone.
