Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded the built-in display on my HP OMEN 16 from the original 165 Hz panel to a 240 Hz panel (same size and connector type).

Since the upgrade, the laptop behaves strangely during startup:

  • When I power it on, the OMEN logo appears, but then the screen starts flashing or flickering rapidly for several seconds (sometimes even up to a minute).

  • Once the Windows lock screen shows up, everything becomes perfectly stable — no flicker, no artifacts, and the display runs smoothly at 240 Hz.

  • Sometimes it even boots without any flicker at all.

Once in Windows, both the Intel UHD and NVIDIA GPU detect the 240 Hz mode correctly, and games/applications work fine. The problem only happens during or right after boot.
