Hello all

Recently been having issues with my laptop regarding display and fonts looking a little blurry or a little too sharp for my liking. I'm not sure what has done this, but it seems to be ever since I did an Nvidia driver update (I rolled the driver back, and still had the same issue). I restored and went back to default settings through the control panel but nothing seemed to change. I haven't touched my display settings or scaling since owning the laptop which is currently at 100% which has been perfect.  I updated my bios also today, because I saw I had an existing update but I'm not sure if that changes anything or not. And whatever has changed as been effecting some of the games I've been playing also, making the clients a little blurry and the text really fuzzy. I've been through DPI settings setting apps to 'high DPI scaling override' with the system enhanced, application etc. but no luck there either. if someone could help me that would help alot. thank you!

@DannyDanny92, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Display Issues on OMEN by HP Gaming Laptop 16!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The issues you are experiencing with your OMEN by HP Gaming Laptop 16, such as fonts changing randomly and blurry icons and text, could be caused by several factors, including drivers, display settings, or scaling configurations. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check Display Settings:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings".
  • Ensure the resolution is set to the recommended setting for your laptop's display.
  • In the Display settings, also check and adjust the scaling percentage. Sometimes incorrect scaling can cause blurry text or icons.

Adjust ClearType Settings:

  • Press Win + S and type "Adjust ClearType text".
  • Follow the ClearType Text Tuner to ensure text is displayed at its best clarity.

Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers:

  • Even if rolling back didn't help, try updating to the latest driver from the official Nvidia website.
  • Alternatively, you can reinstall the driver using Device Manager:
    • Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Display adapters, right-click your Nvidia GPU, and choose Uninstall device.
    • Restart your laptop and install the latest driver from Nvidia’s website.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
  • Install any available updates and restart your laptop.

Restore Power Settings:

  • Open Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Select the Balanced or High performance plan and ensure any custom power plans are reset to their default settings.

Perform a System File Check:

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator (right-click Start and select Windows Terminal (Admin)).
  • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
  • This will scan and repair any corrupted system files that might be causing display issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
