Hello, I  was going to buy a 32" monitor IPS, 4K, 144Hz but as I understand my graphic card (GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q) doesn't support it, am I correct?

Will it be ok instead if I buy a 32" or bigger monitor IPS, 4k, 60hz?

Thanks

@IKB191,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

The refresh rate of your Omen 15 laptop's screen is 60Hz, but that shouldn't limit the refresh rate that can be achieved on an external monitor.

However, the main issue is that your Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q's graphics/resolution capabilities underwhelm beyond 1920x1080: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-1060-max-q.c2976.

In principle you'll never go wrong with an upgraded (external) monitor, as long as you realize that your current laptop won't be able to take advantage of higher resolution gaming.  With your current config, stick with High/Ultra 1920x1080 settings.

Thank you for your feedback.
I am not going to do any gaming anymore or barely. I am using the laptop 70% for productivity: video editing with Premier, Da Vinci, After Effects (I also work with 4K, 60fps+ video footage), 3D modeling (Blender), Photoshop, Unreal Engine and 30% for watching video and browsing internet.
Does what you wrote still stand?
I am not going to buy a monitor less than 2K so I wonder the following thing:
with my laptop and GPU is it better to invest in a 32" 4k, 60hz or in a 32" (or more) 2K/ultrawide 120/144hz considering I am not doing any gaming?

@IKB191,

Well, if gaming is off the table, a 32", 4K, 60Hz monitor will do just fine, and is generally less expensive than a similarly sized monitor with a higher refresh rate.
