Is there a way to use an egpu with the Omen 15 dc0051nr? Testing with an akito node containing a 1080ti and the laptop only seems to use the 1060 dgpu. I have tried dissabling the 1060 in the device manager and it still appears to run.

No the wiring is just not right to show the eGPU on the laptop screen...you have to live with it using an external monitor. The 1060 is still there and still working but the video to the eGPU is routed through the PCIe/Thunderbolt bus. It is not exactly as if the internal video card is completely replaced by the eGPU but the fact that it works as well as it does is a testament to just how powerful Thunderbolt is.

So your laptop has a Thunderbolt 3 port and should work with that eGPU. Are you getting display out of it? You are concerned that the built in laptop video card also seems to still be active? You can just set it to "do nothing" if you close the lid so if the laptop screen is turned off then it will not be using the built in video card or am I missing something? The eGPU displays to an external monitor, right?

Thanks for the reply, Yes that seems to be it. As long as the laptop screen is on the dgpu 1060 will run. Disabling the laptop screen with FN f3 seems to work as well. Oddly if i use the egpu to external monitor, the laptop will report (using steamvr performance test) that the gpu is a 1060 but the score reported is clearly from the egpu 1080ti. Disabling the egpu through device manager along with shutting off the laptop screen by either method does correct this.
It could be useful to have the egpu output onto the laptop screen but this seems to not be possible.
