Hi @Bill-JBCo

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand the touchscreen on your HP OmniBook X Flip 14  has stopped responding. Thank you for sharing the troubleshooting you have already completed.

Kindly confirm the below details :

  • Did the issue start after a Windows, BIOS, or driver update?
  • Does the I2C HID Device continue to show Code 10 after every restart?
  • Under Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices, do you see the HID-compliant touch screen?
  • Does the touchscreen respond within HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, if a touch test is available?

Since you have already performed the hard/CMOS reset and updated the BIOS, chipset, and drivers, kindly try:

  1. Check Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates for any applicable driver updates.
  2. In Device Manager, uninstall the I2C HID Device, restart the notebook, and allow Windows to detect the device again.
  3. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and check for an available touchscreen/display component test.

You may also follow the touchscreen troubleshooting steps in this HP Community Knowledge Base article: Solving Touch Screen Problems.

The Code 10 on the I2C HID Device, along with the HID-compliant touchscreen no longer being detected, indicates that Windows is currently unable to start or communicate correctly with the touchscreen interface. Since the primary driver, BIOS, and reset steps have already been completed, the diagnostic test will help determine whether further hardware-level inspection is required.

I hope this helps.

  • Did the issue start after a Windows, BIOS, or driver update?
    • This is a client's computer. Not known exactly when problem appeared. Very unlikely client would have updated BIOS or driver(s). Could have followed Windows update but that's unknown.
  • Does the I2C HID Device continue to show Code 10 after every restart?
    • Yes
  • Under Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices, do you see the HID-compliant touch screen?
    • It was there before, following HP troubleshooter, I uninstalled it and was afterward unable to reinstall it.
  • Does the touchscreen respond within HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, if a touch test is available?
    • No touch test is available. I have downloaded the latest UEFI diagnostics. Suspect it's because the touch screen is not detected.

Since you have already performed the hard/CMOS reset and updated the BIOS, chipset, and drivers, kindly try:

  1. Check Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates for any applicable driver updates.
    Already done.
  2. In Device Manager, uninstall the I2C HID Device, restart the notebook, and allow Windows to detect the device again.
    Already done. It's not detected.
  3. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and check for an available touchscreen/display component test.
Already done. Downloaded and installed latest UEFI hardware diagnostics. No available touchscreen/display component test  found.

I have advised client that it appears to be a hardware failure and recommended taking computer to an HP authorized service center for a repair estimate.
