HP Envy X360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have owned my HP Envy X360 for 6 months now and I am very disappointed in the user interface.

It seems to be one of the most unintuitive 2 in 1 laptops I have ever handled and I got the Ryzen 7 version so I wasted more money to get these poor results.

I have watched 5+ hours of YouTube tutorials and tried multiple different forums with people complaining about the same issue and there seems to be absolutely no complete solution to this issue so if someone can actually help me with this I will be blown away, feel incredibly stupid and owe you a beer.

Whenever I go into tablet mode in order to do my illustrating it DOES NOT understand that I have selected a text box as no on screen keyboard appears to allow for input. It is a 1 in 5 chance that it does. Sometimes it does, almost all of the time it doesn't, but it has never once been consistent no matter how I configure the settings. I can't even use google or windows search it just will not bring up a keyboard and I do not understand how this feature was so obviously ignored in the design of the interface.

Please help me because if I have to go through settings one more time to manually bring up the on screen keyboard I will be testing the distant this laptop travels when thrown from the top of a 10 story building.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Also, you can try the below-recommended methods.

  • Go into the Settings --> Personalization --> Taskbar --> Turn System Icons On or Off --> and turn on the Touch Keyboard.
  • Also, try the steps recommended below to change the tablet settings.
  • Press the Windows key + R - On the Run command type in regedit and then click on OK.
  • Now goto path -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation
  • Check the value of Enable file if it is 0 rotation will be OFF, if 1 rotation will be ON.
  • Restart and Autorotation keyboard will work.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
