Hi
I have an HP laptop connected to an HP USB C DOCK. We have been using this with two monitors for the last two years, all of a sudden it has locked one monitor to 680x480 Display size.
All drivers and Bios are up todate, have uninstalled and reinstalled all relative drivers. In display settings it show monitor 1 as "no monitor" under advanced display, list all models in only comes up as 640x480 true color. I have read and tried multiple fixes but nothing works.
Everything was fine untill one morning it wasnt. It is the same on a differnt hp laptop plugged into the same dock.
It is the monitor on Display port, the HDMI monitor works fine
Is this possibly the USB C DOCK dead?
Thanks
Thanks

Hi @SKDTME,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've done a lot of troubleshooting already. Given that the issue persists across different laptops when using the same dock, it does suggest that the dock might be the source of the problem. Here are a few additional steps to consider:
- Check for Firmware Updates: Some docks have firmware updates that can address issues with display resolutions. Check the HP website or the dock’s manual for any available firmware updates. Software and Drivers for HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba1xxx
- Test the Display Port Cable: Try using a different Display Port cable to see if the issue is with the cable rather than the dock itself.
- Try a Different Monitor: If possible, connect a different monitor using the Display Port on the dock to determine if the problem is with the original monitor.
- Check Dock Settings: Some docks have configuration settings that might affect display outputs. Ensure there are no settings that might be limiting the resolution.
- Reset the Dock: If the dock has a reset option (either through software or a physical button), try resetting it to see if that resolves the issue.
- Recheck Monitor Settings: Sometimes, the monitor's on-screen menu might have settings affecting resolution or display inputs. Make sure the monitor is set to the correct input source and resolution.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Gaya1239
Thanks you for the reply. I tried updating the firmwear with no luck, drivers were up to date, cables checked with other knowen good cables, but nothing. I decided to unplug everything and reset the laptop. When plugging everything back in I swapped the monitors ports round and this seems to have solved the issue. When i swap them back to the origonal ports the issue comes back. Very strange. I swapped them back again and no issue. We are now happy 🙂
Thank you very much for your help.
