I recently had to replace the entire screen assembly, since backlight of my laptop stopped working all of a sudden.

After screen replacement, image and touch work fine, but if I flip the laptop in any direction the screen does not rotate and the keyboard also stills enabled.

I was first using Windows 8.1, which is the native OS for this model. I tried to do the factory restore, which did not either. After that, I upgraded to Windows 10, and the issue stills.

I tried to reinstall drivers, use different drivers... a lot of solutions suggested on other threads on this forum, but nothing solved the issue.

How do I know if this is a software or hardware issue? Under device manager, the driver installed is for HID Sensor Collection V2.

Where is the sensor located? On the motherboard or on the screen?

I reviewed your post and I understand that the screen orientation is not working on your computer.

 

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

 

Please follow the steps in the below article and make sure that the screen orientation is enabled.

Also, make sure to check for and install MS updates KB3081441 and KB3081444.

 

If the issue persists, follow below steps and test.

 

  1. Press Win + R, then type 'regedit' and press enter
  2. Registry editor will open.
  3. Goto path -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation
  4. Check the value of Enable file if it is 0 rotation will be OFF if 1 rotation will be ON.
  5. Restart and Auto rotation will work.

Thanks for helping me on this issue!

 

I tried the options you mentioned, but still not working. Before I opened this thread, I tried several other alternatives provided here on the forum to other users, but non helped me. I don't believe it has anything to do with Auto Rotation being enabled or disabled on Windows itself. When I flip the screen 180 degrees, the keyboard should be disabled automatically, but it did not.

It is like the sensor is completely disabled or something like that. Nothing change no matter what I do.

I recommend you to reset the computer to its factory settings and check if it helps.

Thanks for your assistance. One last thing that if you know the answer would help me a lot: where is the sensor located? Is it in the screen assembly? Is it in the motherboard?

Hi @thiagorr,

 

Usually, the sensors are located on the top of the screen (display) where you have the webcam, microphone, and wireless antennas.

 

NOTE: This also depends on the model and the design of the laptop.
