Hello All,
I have been trying to get a pen for my HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-AP012DX that I bought in 2017. It did not come with a pen.
From the information I've gathered I need to use a pen that uses Synaptics technology. And the two pens that I've looked into from the community forum seems to tell me that I can use these 2 options, which I bought:
HP Active Pen - j4r51aa#abl
Dell Active Stylus Pen - 750-AAGN
I purchased both and have not received the HP Pen yet but did receive the Dell Pen. However, I can't get it to connect & work. It is bluetooth, and its connected. But it does not register on my laptop. I am wondering if the same thing is going to happen when I get my HP Active Pen. Am I missing something?
Suggestions on how to get it to work? I believe my laptop / model ( HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-ap012dx / 6T09UA#ABA) uses synaptics and these are the only 2 pens I could find that use this technology and the HP store does not carry any pen that is "compatible" with my laptop. And I would really like to have a pen to use on my laptop.
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have been working on this for weeks now and I am hoping for some help.
THANK YOU!!!! 🙂

@moeron113 This is the service and maintenance guide for your HP Spectre x360 15-AO012dx and if a certain product supports a stylus/Pen the same would be mentioned in here, however, it doesn't seem to be on it for your device, which means, this device does not support an active stylus.
You may use a passive stylus instead, here's what you need to know:
- A passive stylus (also known as capacitive stylus) functions the same as your finger on the screen.
- Passive styluses do not require batteries, and they work on any touch screen device.
