@Philosophe, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It appears you are experiencing issues with pen functionality in Excel while using your HP Spectre x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop in tablet mode. Here are a few steps you might consider to resolve this:
Check for Software Updates: Make sure your laptop has the latest versions of BIOS and HP System Event Utility installed. You can download the latest versions from the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
Ensure Battery Charge: Confirm that the pen is fully charged by placing it in the magnetic pen attachment and charger area. The LED will indicate the charging status.
- Blinking amber: Battery is low.
- Static amber: Pen is charging.
- Off: Pen is fully charged.
Tablet Mode Settings: The functionality of the pen might differ based on the mode your device is in. In tablet mode, it should still work, but configurations or specific app settings might need to be adjusted to ensure compatibility.
Check App Settings: For Excel, ensure that the application settings allow pen input during tablet mode. It might be a setting within Excel that needs adjustment.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
