Product: HP ENVY 120 PRINTER

Hello there. I am sure you have seen this complaint before: A good old solid HP Envy 120 printer (which prints quite adequately), but the display has stopped working - suddenly, without any reason I can fathom  it is permanently blank . I have no wish to replace the printer, but it would be really good to see what is on the screen....

 

I have read that one cause may be a defective cable from the display to the motherboard - hard to know really, but I am trying to find a replacement. It is a 50 pin flat reversing cable (ie the connections at one end are on the top and on the other end are underneath), and is about 6-7cm long by 1.5cm wide..The details printed on it are: WINXIN E230343 9? A W M 2896 80C 30V VW-1 M ...  I have searched around the net but have not found a suitable replacement with the same spec. I would be very grateful if somebody could direct me to where I can find one, or a suitable alternative.

 

Also I would be interested to know whether actually i am wasting my time, and the whole display needs replacing. If that is the case, then where can I get one of those (that doesn't cost the same as a replacement printer....)? 

 

Any help would be appreciated.
