HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000 (2D119AV)

I have an HP laptop I purchased last summer. I bought 2 HP monitors which HP told me would work with my model laptop.  I also bought a docking station which HP told me I needed along with 2 DP cables.  The laptop cannot detect my monitors.  Yes, both monitors work if I plug them directly into my laptop via HDMI cable. But there is only one HDMI port which is why I bought a docking station.  Please help.

Hi @JenRoberts ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're encountering some issues with setting up your HP laptop with the docking station and multiple monitors. Let's troubleshoot the problem step by step:

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure that your laptop model, the docking station, and the monitors are all compatible with each other. Sometimes, compatibility issues can arise even if individual components are advertised as compatible.
  • Docking Station Setup: Make sure the docking station is connected to your laptop properly. Docking stations usually connect via USB-C, Thunderbolt, or some proprietary connector. Ensure that all connections are secure.
  • Docking Station Drivers: Some docking stations require drivers to be installed on your laptop for proper functionality. Check the HP website for any driver downloads specific to your docking station model and install them.
  • Monitor Connections: If you're using DisplayPort cables to connect your monitors to the docking station, ensure that the cables are securely connected both to the docking station and the monitors.
  • Monitor Input Source: On the monitors themselves, make sure that the input source is set to DisplayPort (DP) or whichever input you're using to connect them to the docking station.
  • Laptop Display Settings: After connecting the monitors to the docking station, go to your laptop's display settings. You should be able to detect and configure the additional monitors from there.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your laptop's graphics drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause issues with external displays.
  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Check Docking Station Power: Some docking stations require external power sources. Ensure that your docking station is powered on and receiving power.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
