I knocked one of the four buttons on my hp monitor and now it's stuck in a loop and it's saying self test feature. I've tried turning the screen on and off and I've tried pressing all of the four buttons and I've unplugged the cable out of the back of the screen and nothing is working.

Hi @PrinceAkai,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Self Test Feature" on your HP Compaq monitor typically appears when the monitor isn't receiving a signal from the computer. Since you accidentally pressed one of the monitor's buttons, it could have triggered a diagnostic mode or changed the input setting.
Here are some steps to try and resolve this:
Check Input Source
- Press the "Input" or "Source" button on your monitor (often one of the four buttons you mentioned) to make sure it is set to the correct input (e.g., HDMI, VGA, etc.).
Reset the Monitor
- Factory reset: If your monitor has a factory reset option, try accessing the on-screen display (OSD) menu using the buttons. Look for a "Factory Reset" or "Reset All Settings" option and select it to restore the default configuration.
Check Cable Connections
- Unplug the power and video cables (HDMI, VGA, etc.) for about 1-2 minutes.
- Plug everything back in securely.
- Ensure the cables are connected to the correct ports on your computer and the monitor.
Test the Monitor on Another Device
- If possible, connect the monitor to a different computer or device to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem lies with the monitor or your current setup.
Disable Self Test Mode (if applicable)
- Some HP monitors allow you to exit the self-test mode by pressing specific button combinations. Try holding down the "Menu" button or the "Power" button for 10-15 seconds to reset the monitor.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
