HP USB-C Dock G5
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm creating this case, because we still have issues with screen flash intermittently in the company I work at

It is exact as the case below, but it never really got a solution.

Solved: HP USB-C Dock G5 - Screens flash intermittently - HP Support Community - 8977786

We mainly have Probook 450 g10 laptops that connect 2 FHD screens with DP cables with the HP USB-C Dock G5. (Don't use the HDMI output of the docking station)

We are on firmware 1.0.22.0 (USB-C Dock G5). Laptops are up to date (use HP support assistant)

I've tried several things:

enabled high resolution mode in bios (did nothing)

disabled HP power management in bios

some monitors supported daisy chaining, so only 1 DP connection is neccesary of docking station for 2 screens. That seemed to solve it, but not all screen support daisy chaining, so not a solution.

Did anyone manage to solve this problem?

Its specs

It has TWO  USB 3.2 Gen 2.0 Type-C ports; 10 Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4) ports I tested similar ports on my HP USB-C G5 dock (model 5TW10AA) using 3 FHD monitors (2 DP and 1 HDMI). What is its driver ? Mine

I'm using it on a different machine now.

Downgrade the Dock to 1.0.18.

We are using Elitebooks and USB G5 docks. Seeing the same thing. Only thing that helps is being on the 1.0.18. Anything above that results in screens flashing intermittently.

Hoping for a longer-term solution as it seems to be firmware related to the Dock.

The driver that I have on my laptop is:

Do you experience the sames issues on your 'older' driver?

Search HP USB-C Dock G5 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

Go to previous version and download the 1.0.18 Rev A firmware. Downgrade from your 1.0.22

I have seen success with that.

We downgraded the usb-c dock G5 from 1.0.22 to 1.0.18.

Unfortunately, it did not solve the problem. This morning I still had my main screen going black for 1 second.

Anybody else any suggestions to counter this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Are you downgrading the firmware of the docking stations or the USB-C Controller?

I have seen a problem where the universal docking station, connected via USB-C, loses its connection, then reconnects a few seconds later, then disconnects, rinse and repeat. I think this is the same problem that was original post was talking about.

If the answer is to downgrade to the USB-C Controller firmware to 1.0.18, how do you do that? I am not familiar with the process.

HP Recommended

If you download the firmware installer for the version you want, you mark a box to force the downgrade.

You will see it in the screen where it compares the versions
