HI

I also have the same issue but what you have said had not worked for me. I don't have the screen option 1 or 2 in display settings, the screen just isnt there. I have no options to select it, It is as if nothing is plugged in, which is certainly is. It just cannot not see it. Tried the usual on and off.

Please help!

(Brand new Dell monitor, Brand new HP laptop, brand new displayport wire,)

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you please help me with the Exact Modle name and the operating system of your computer?

Have you tried with the different cable?

Have you tried with the VGA cable (If supported)?

@Herbie04

Thanks for the reply,

Just reconfirm Have you tried with the different cable?

For now please try these steps:

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphic drivers from this link: https://support.hp.com/drivers

If it still does not fix the issue, please perform the relevant steps for HDMI related issues from this link:  HP PCs - Troubleshooting HDMI Display and Sound Issues (Windows 10, 8, 7)  regarding video issues. If there is no hardware issue with the computer, this should do the trick for you.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Have a great day!

Hi

Many thanks for the advice,

I have no other cable to try ( the one I have is brand new)

I have deleted and reinstalled the drivers as suggested, under the 'BIOS' link and installed ...

'HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors)'   driver.

With in the graphic section there are multiply drivers, so no idea which on to install?

So far this has not worked and it is not recognising the external monitor at all.

Any further help would be much appriated.

many thanks
