I have the same problem. When I try to run NVidia Control Panel it says that I am not using a display attached to a NVidia GPU. This is a brand new laptop that I just received yesterday. I spent long time with a support tech last night and the result was that he opened a request to have the laptop returned for repair saying that it is a bad NVidia card. I am really ticked off about this since I had to wait for over a month to get this laptop delivered after my purchase. In addition I had to spend several hours getting Windows updates because it did not have all of the updates loaded. I can believe that it may have needed a couple updates in the few days between assembly of the system and when I received it but not the number of updates that I had to do.

The problem has been resolved. Evidently there was a Windows update that was causing the problem. I reverted back to a restore point and it is working now.
