I had the same problem.

I received an error message that HP Pen Control was incompatible with my computer.

 

The computer I purchased was the HP Spectre x360 16 2024.

Tech support could not resolve the issue. They said the software compatible with my computer was not HP Pen Control, but HP Pen Control Plus. 

And that Plus version was nowhere installed on my computer, and even the tech had no access to that software. 

 

I finally resolved the issue by returning my HP Spectre.
