Replace Pavilion x360 laptop 15T non backlit keyboard with a... - HP Support Community

I have a 4 month old HP Pavilion x360 Convertible Model 15T-er100 laptop (that has backlit capability) that was dropped and screen smashed and other unknown damage that prevents the laptop from turning on. I just purchased the same Pavilion x360 that does NOT have backlit keyboard.

Can I take the backlit keyboard from the old laptop and put it on the new Pavilion?

Will my new Pavilion support the old backlit keyboard?

Any other advice would be welcomed. Thank you.

If the old laptop keboard is idential and if it support the new laptop model.

Then you can replace and that should work.

Hi Irwin6. The question is - Does the new motherboard (that is in the new laptop that is NOT sold as having a backlit keyboard) have the same connection(s) that the motherboard would have in a laptop that IS sold as being backlit.

In other words, is the motherboard that goes into my model a UNIVERSAL type motherboard that can support either a Non-backlit or a Backlit keyboard.

The backlit keyboard would obviously need a power source plug on the motherboard for the lights, whereas the non-backlit keyboard doesn't have the power source plug for the lights.
