I have had the 27xq for some time now, unfortunately the screen has now faded to black, one side being visible and the other shadowed. I have done everything in the online forums and articles i have read however nothing has fixed it, looking online i read it could be a faulty led light or capacitor. I would like to have it fixed but im out of warranty and the monitor is in too great condition for me to throw out.

Hi @m270dtno13,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m sorry to hear about the issues with your monitor—it’s incredibly frustrating when a well-maintained device develops such a problem. I understand how important it is to try and salvage something that’s otherwise in great condition. Let’s work through this together.
- When the screen fades, does the issue persist regardless of which device you connect the monitor to, or does it vary with different inputs (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort)?
- Have you noticed any flickering or dimming before the screen started fading, or did the issue occur suddenly?
- When adjusting the monitor's brightness settings or running a factory reset, does it have any visible impact on the shadowed area?
Let's try these steps.
Test with Different Cables and Ports:
- Connect the monitor to a different device using another cable (e.g., HDMI or DisplayPort). If possible, try a different port on your computer or laptop to rule out issues with the input source or cables.
Perform a Factory Reset:
- Access the monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu and reset it to factory defaults. This can resolve display anomalies caused by incorrect settings.
Check for Backlight Functionality:
- Shine a flashlight on the darker side of the screen when it is powered on. If you can faintly see images, the issue may be with the backlight or LED components.
Inspect the Power Supply:
- If the monitor uses an external power adapter, try using a compatible replacement to rule out power delivery issues affecting the display's brightness.
If the issue persists, this could be a hardware issue.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
