HP Probook 4540s
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I started seeing thin zig zag lines at the bottom of my laptop screen a few months ago... I thought it might be because of graphic drivers and i uninstalled and installed them again, still the problem didn't get resolved. Now a few days ago, the no of zig zag lines increased and the screen also started to shake a bit. I see this problem from the starting of the boot of the laptop and even in the BIOS.

I am not sure where the problem is... is it the laptop screen or the display cable... for as of now i am somehow sure that it is not a software issue.

Please someone help me with this.

It certainly does not sound like a software issue, so it's most likely what you suspect -- a hardware issue, and my guess would be a failing video chip.

Connect up an external monitor to see if you get the same artifacts. My guess is that you will NOT -- and that will confirm that the video chip, which is soldered to the system board and NOT replaceable, is failing.
