HP EliteBook 860 16 inch G10 Notebook PC (6V8W2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I use my computer in a docking station - KVM switch actually, switch between the HP and a Dell laptop. All of the expected functions on the HP work normally when the computer is un-docked and with a USB keyboard & mouse attached: I can wake the computer from sleep state or just turn the screen back on when it's timed out, with any USB input (keyboard or mouse), and/or plugging in AC power. All normal.

But all of the above functions fail to work MOST OF THE TIME when it's plugged into the docking station / KVM switch. And it is definitely something with the HP laptop because the other Dell laptop behaves completely normally, never a single issue with that one.

I have a BIOS manual that lists a "wake on USB" option that's not available on my laptop (EliteBook 860 G10 / Windows 11 Pro build 26100.4349 / BIOS V70 Ver. 01.09.00), nor can I find any such option in system settings. The function must exist because it works when the machine is un-docked, the question is... Shouldn't "wake on USB" also work when the wake signal is through the USB-C port (docking station connection)??? It does sometimes - but at least 20 times every day I have to get up from my seat, unplug the computer, open the lid, get past the lock screen then close the lid, plug it back in and sit back down. And THEN it works... USUALLY.

Really exasperated - would love some help with this!!

thanks,
