Microsoft Windows 11

I am having the following problem:

I just got my HP Omnibook X Flip 14fk laptop-runned by AMD for few days, only until now I realized the laptop tent mode/tablet mode/screen rotation will ONLY work when I just turn on the laptop or it is back from a restart. Otherwise, it just won't work after it once went to sleep or after I have been using the laptop for a while; no matter how I flip the screen or rotate the body.

the thing that bother me the most is that if I have switched the laptop into tent mode at the beginning (when I just on the laptop or restarted it), it won't get back to normal laptop mode when I done what I was doing and flipping back to normal mode

@Nishantcf, thank you for the detailed update and for sharing your Windows build. We know how disruptive it can feel when your sleek Omnibook X Flip doesn’t flip the way it should after sleep mode.

It really sounds like the rotation sensor is being put to sleep by Windows and not waking up properly afterward — especially with the latest 24H2 build, which is still ironing out a few quirks.

Let’s try this sensory refresh:

SensorService Check

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.

Scroll to Sensor Service.

Make sure it's Running and Startup Type is set to Automatic (Delayed Start).

If it's stopped, right-click > Start.

Trigger a Wake-Up Call

Sometimes, Windows' Modern Standby misbehaves with sensors:

Go to Device Manager > Sensors.

Right-click your sensor (e.g., “Kionix Fusion Sensor”), choose Properties > Power Management tab.

Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

@Nishantcf, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Omnibook!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Update Drivers:

  • Make sure all your device drivers are up to date, especially the graphics and chipset drivers. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Check Auto-Rotation Settings:

  • Ensure that auto-rotation is enabled. You can do this by going to Settings > System > Display and checking if the “Rotation lock” is turned off.

Recalibrate Sensors:

  • Your device might need sensor recalibration. This can often be done by accessing the BIOS/UEFI settings during startup and looking for sensor calibration options.

Power Plan Settings:

  • Sometimes, power management settings can interfere with the sensors. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and make sure you’re using a balanced power plan without any custom power-saving options that might disable sensors.

System Updates:

  • Make sure your Windows 11 is up to date. Install any pending updates by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant to run a system diagnostics check. It can help identify and fix various issues with your HP device.

Reset Your Device:

  • If the problem persists, you can try performing a system reset or a clean installation of Windows, as a last resort.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

@Nishantcf, Thanks for getting back and letting us know! I totally understand how frustrating it must be when your Omnibook X Flip’s screen rotation only works right after a restart but stops responding after sleep or extended use.

Since you’ve already tried the usual fixes, let’s try a couple more things that might bring your screen rotation back to life throughout your day:

Disable and Re-enable the Sensor Driver:

Open Device Manager > Sensors > right-click on the sensor (like the accelerometer) > Disable device.

Wait a few seconds, then right-click and Enable it again.
This can sometimes “wake up” the sensor when it goes quiet after sleep.

Check for Conflicting Apps:
Some apps can lock the rotation to a fixed mode. Try closing background apps or temporarily boot into a clean startup to see if that helps.

Run the HP Hardware Diagnostics:
Run the sensor tests via HP Support Assistant or from the BIOS diagnostics to rule out any hardware issues with the rotation sensor.

If none of these spark the screen to rotate smoothly after sleep, please share your exact Windows build and any recent updates — sometimes updates can interfere with sensors and need specific patches.

We want your Omnibook to feel as flexible as you do when you flip it around!

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
