Microsoft Windows 11

I would like to ask you about a problem of  my Hp Pavilion :

on start-up i get screen glitches and screen and text flickering when i move my mouse cursor, sometimes restarting solves the issue,

I am running windows 11 os , hardware is good( no loose cables) and software diagnostics did not show any problem,

My display drivers are up-to-date. windows 11 is  up-to-date

looking forward for your assistance.

Thank you

@MIsm

You mention running Windows 11, so is this a fairly new laptop? If so, this tends to indicate a failing video chipset -- which is not something you can fix.

IF this were mine and it were new, I would contact where I bought it, complain bitterly about this problem -- and demand a full refund -- and then buy something else.

@wawood, thank you for the reply.

i purchased this pc more than two years ago, i updated to windows 11 a couple of weeks ago so asking for a refund and buying something else is out of the picture..

i had the same issue before the update, running on windows 10...

Thank you again.

I'm sorry -- I thought that since you mentioned Windows 11, this was a new laptop.

This is almost certainly an indication of failing video hardware -- either the screen or the video chip or both.

You need to connect an external monitor to the laptop.

If the visual artifacts also appear on the monitor, then it is a failing video chip and since those are soldered to the motherboard, they are not replaceable.

If the visual artifacts do NOT appear on the monitor, then it is a failing laptop screen. While those can be replaced, the cost varies enormously by individual PC model.

We are not able, or permitted, to provide any repair estimates or equipment prices.
For this information, you would need to contact an HP Repair or Service Center.

Good Luck
