Originally this laptop screen turned green, intermittently, and flickered every time the screen was moved up or down. The picture soon turned and stayed grey. I plugged the laptop into my TV via HDMI and the picture was perfect. I disassembled and checked the cables on both the motherboard and screen for tightness, removed, then replaced and tested - still grey with lines. I suspect a bad screen cable but would like to confirm a proper replacement cable. The original reads: 

X15CLC000

DDX15CLC000

FOX3ASD5241

What do these numbers represent? The only cables I can see on Ebay that partially match is the middle number but it says is also good for DDX15CLC040 - what is this number ? Is the 40 for the amount of pins? I believe there actually are 40. Thing is, if it doesn't fit - I'm stuck with it.
