I just bought a new Pavilion and the screen is washed out. My 7-year-old laptop is much more vibrant. Are there any settings I can change that will help? Thanks.

Hi @Jola56,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion's screen color appears washed out, there may be several possible reasons for this. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

  • Adjust display settings: Check if the brightness, contrast, and saturation settings of your display are set correctly. You can find these settings in your computer's display settings.
  • Update Graphics Driver: An outdated or faulty graphics driver may cause display issues. Ensure that your computer's graphics drivers are up-to-date. You can find the latest drivers for your graphics card on the manufacturer's website.
  • Check cables and connections: Loose or damaged cables can also cause display issues. Check the cables connecting your monitor to your computer and ensure that they are firmly connected.
  • Calibrate Display: Consider calibrating your display to ensure accurate color representation. You can use built-in calibration tools or third-party software to calibrate your monitor.
  • Test on other device: If you have access to another device, connect your monitor to it to check if the issue persists. This will help you identify if the issue is with your monitor or your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Alden4, I tried to re-calibrate the colors, although I couldn't adjust the actual display because there aren't controls for that on my Pavilion, at least not any I could find. I was only able to adjust the gamma. It seems a bit better now, but still not as good as my old laptop. Thanks for your help and if the other color controls are available somewhere, please let me know. Best, Jola56

This is in reference to my new computer, a 15" Pavilion, as follows:

Processor AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics 2.10 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.3 GB usable)
Device ID DC14351D-EE42-4597-B157-7083CD6128D7
Product ID 00342-20950-01961-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

Thanks
