Good Day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I understand that you require assistance regarding issues with the display going blank when the screen is moved back and forth. I will be really glad to assist you here. 🙂
Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:
- Did this happen because of a drop?
For now, try these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset on the notebook by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2nwQ054
Now check if the issue gets fixed. If it continues, then the display cable that connects the screen to the display card’s connector on the motherboard is loose. The computer needs to be serviced by contacting HP phone support here. I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind.
Please follow these instructions to contact HP phone support:
HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:
- Click on this link – https://hp.care/2moMFSc
- 2) Click on “Continue as guest”.
- 3) Enter the serial of your device.
- 4) Select the country from the drop-down.
- 5) Click on “Show Options”.
Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Hello David,
First of all, thank you for assisting me.No, I didn't drop my laptop before, I bought my laptop around 2 months ago and i rarely carry it around.
I tried hard reseting my laptop but it didn't work.I proceeded to try contact the hp phone support but it say
"This product is no longer serviced by HP. You may search for possible solutions on this support website. ". Does it mean that i'm unable to fix my laptop. I also tried to contact the support by calling the techinical support with the number given in http://www8.hp.com/my/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html but it keep saying the representive are busy for around 15 minutes until i decided to hangout because it seem unlikely anyone would pickup
