My laptop is only a couple of years old, but recently I am experiencing my words being jiggly or wavy. It happens on various programs and when I click on something on the screen, it blacks out momentarily. I don't use my laptop often, only when I travel. I need to resolve this before the next time I travel

Hi @Sunshine531,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The symptoms you're describing, such as wavy or jiggly words and blacking out when clicking on something, could be indicative of a few different issues.
Here are some potential causes and steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
At first, I request you to please check if the display is wavy in the BIOS screen as well. If yes, It must be a hardware issue.
How to access HP BIOS screen?
Opening the BIOS Setup Utility
Turn on the computer, and then immediately press the ESC key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens. Press f10 to open the BIOS Setup Utility.
If not, then please try the below steps:
Graphics Driver Issue:
- Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause display problems. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can usually find the latest drivers on the HP website.
Screen Resolution Settings:
- Check your display settings to ensure that the screen resolution is set to the recommended or native resolution for your laptop. Incorrect resolution settings can lead to display issues.
Overheating:
- Overheating can also cause display issues. Ensure that your laptop is well-ventilated and not overheating. Clean any dust from the vents and, if possible, use your laptop on a flat surface to promote better airflow.
Malware or Virus:
- Perform a full system scan for malware or viruses. Malicious software can cause various issues, including problems with the display.
Operating System Update:
- Ensure that your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, a simple update can resolve compatibility issues.
System Restore:
- If the problem started recently, you might consider using the System Restore feature to revert your system to a previous state when it was functioning correctly. Be aware that this will undo any changes made to your system since the chosen restore point.
Please click here for system restore
External Monitor Test:
- If possible, connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the display issues persist. If the external monitor works fine, it could indicate a problem with your laptop's built-in display.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
