HP Envy x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-fa-0000 (8Z8P5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I have a problem with my screen flickering and jumping up a bit anytime I watch videos in full screen. I've tried to run diagnostics tests, updated my computer and restarting it. I've tried to change multiple display settings and tried to use both Chrome and Microsoft Edge but the problem remains. I don't know what else to do and it bothers me very much. It's a fairly new laptop as well so it's very disappointing to have this problem. I saw another person had posted about exactly this problem, but they didn't find a solution either. Hi @emle1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand your concern regarding the screen flickering or shifting behaviour when viewing videos in full screen on your HP ENVY x360 14-fa0000 2-in-1 Laptop PC. We sincerely regret the inconvenience this has caused, especially on a relatively new device.

Please try the Steps to resolve the Issue

1. Update Graphics Drivers (Critical)

  • Right-click StartDevice Manager
  • Expand Display adapters
  • Right-click Intel GraphicsUpdate driverSearch automatically

2. Adjust Display Refresh Rate

Some flickering can occur if the dynamic refresh rate is enabled.

  1. Go to SettingsSystemDisplayAdvanced display.
  2. Set the Refresh Rate to a fixed value (e.g., 60Hz) instead of "Dynamic".

3. Disable Hardware Acceleration in Browser

In both Chrome and Edge:

  • Open browser settings.
  • Search for hardware acceleration.
  • Turn off the setting labelled “Use hardware acceleration when available.”
  • Restart the browser.

4. Disable Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)

  1. Open SettingsSystemDisplayGraphics.
  2. Click Change default graphics settings.
  3. Toggle Variable refresh rate to Off.

5. Check for BIOS Updates

A firmware update may resolve the problem:

⚠️ Please ensure your laptop is plugged in during the BIOS update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
