Hi @Ozberg,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing screen flickering issues with your HP Spectre x360. Screen flickering can be caused by various factors, including software glitches, outdated drivers, hardware problems, or even a faulty display.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the screen flickering issue.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can often cause screen flickering. Visit the HP Support website or use the HP Support Assistant software to check for the latest driver updates for your Spectre x360. Install any available updates and restart your laptop to see if the issue is resolved.
- Adjust Screen Refresh Rate: Sometimes, an incorrect refresh rate setting can cause flickering. Right-click on your desktop and select "Display Settings." Scroll down to the "Advanced display settings" and click on it. From there, select the "Display adapter properties" option and navigate to the "Monitor" tab. Ensure that the screen refresh rate is set to the default or recommended value.
- Disable Adaptive Brightness: Adaptive brightness, a feature that adjusts screen brightness based on ambient lighting conditions, can sometimes cause flickering. To disable this feature, go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" > "Change plan settings" (next to your selected power plan) > "Change advanced power settings." Look for the "Display" category and expand it. Locate the "Enable adaptive brightness" setting and set both "On battery" and "Plugged in" options to "Off."
- Run a Hardware Diagnostic: Some screen flickering issues may be caused by hardware problems. HP laptops usually have built-in hardware diagnostic tools. Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F2 or Esc key (varies depending on the model) to access the HP Hardware Diagnostic tool. Run the display test to check if any hardware issues are detected.
- Disable/Uninstall Problematic Applications: Certain applications or software can conflict with display settings, leading to screen flickering. Try disabling or uninstalling recently installed applications that you suspect may be causing the issue. Restart your laptop and check if the flickering persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
