Noticed that when im playing a game above 60fps. the screen has horisontal flickering lines over it. Google said disable g-sync. This did not fix it.

Hi @RanekV

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Horizontal flickering lines on your screen when gaming above 60fps can be annoying, and disabling G-Sync is a common suggestion, but since it didn’t work, there are other potential fixes you can try:

1. Enable V-Sync:

Vertical Sync (V-Sync) limits your frame rate to the refresh rate of your monitor, which can eliminate screen tearing and flickering.

To enable it:

Open your game settings and look for Graphics Options or Display Settings.

Turn on V-Sync and test whether the flickering disappears.

2. Check Display Settings:

Ensure your laptop's refresh rate matches the screen's native refresh rate:

Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.

Scroll down and click Advanced Display Settings.

Choose the highest available refresh rate (e.g., 120Hz or 144Hz).

3. Update Graphics Drivers:

Outdated drivers can cause visual glitches. Update your GPU drivers:

For NVIDIA: Download the latest version from NVIDIA's website. https://www.nvidia.com

For AMD: Get the latest drivers at AMD's website. https://www.amd.com

4. Disable Overlays:

Some overlays, such as GeForce Experience or Discord overlay, can interfere with the GPU.

Disable these overlays in their respective apps to test whether they’re causing the flickering.

5. Screen Calibration:

In rare cases, screen flickering can result from incorrect calibration or resolution settings. Use Windows Calibration Tools:

Press Win + I to open Settings.

Go to System > Display > Advanced Display Settings and fine-tune the resolution and refresh rate.

6. Connect to External Monitor (Optional):

If the problem persists, try connecting your laptop to an external monitor to check if the flickering occurs there as well. If it does not, the issue may be with your laptop's display hardware.
