I have been having screen issues since a few days ago. Only when the brightness is on low do I have the issue. My screen starts to flicker and darken from the bottom up and The black patches disappear when I increase the brightness by at least 40%.
as you can see here that the screen is dark from bottom area. but i don't know what is the exact problem.
do i need a whole screen replacement?

Hi @Himesh_9512,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing some display issues with your HP Pavilion 14 laptop, specifically a darkening at the bottom and flickering when the brightness is set to a low level. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can often cause display problems. Visit the official HP website or the manufacturer of your graphics card to download and install the latest drivers for your laptop's graphics hardware.
- Adjust Power Settings: Sometimes, display issues can be related to power settings. Make sure your laptop is not in a power-saving mode that might affect the display brightness and performance.
- Check Display Settings: Double-check your display settings to ensure that there are no unusual configurations causing the darkening and flickering. Try adjusting the brightness settings within the operating system and see if that makes a difference.
- Update BIOS: An outdated BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) could also cause display problems. Check the HP support website for your laptop model and see if there are any BIOS updates available.
- Disable Adaptive Brightness: Some laptops have a feature called "Adaptive Brightness" or "Auto-Brightness" that adjusts the display brightness based on ambient light conditions. This feature might not work perfectly in all situations and could contribute to display issues. You can usually find this setting in the power or display settings of your operating system.
- Safe Mode: Boot your laptop in Safe Mode (if available) and see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is related to software or drivers.
- External Monitor: If possible, connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue occurs there as well. If it does not, the problem might be specific to the laptop's built-in display.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hey @Alden4,
Thank you for your advice on my problem.
I attempted every suggestion you made above, but since I don't have an external monitor, I was unable to test the last one.
It doesn't actually solve the issue, but it did assist me in identifying the root cause, and now that I know it's a hardware problem, I can call the HP service department.
