HP Pavillion 7 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

When opening or closing laptop the screen goes fuzzy gray and white. When I bang or bump the computer, the screen returns to normal. From what I read it could be the graphics card or a faulty cable from the screen to the computer. Trying to see if it would be easy to fix or how much it would cost to repair and is it worth it. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

The Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

I understand you need to get the issue with fuzzy gray & white screen resolved by all means necessary,

I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:

In the future please mention the product number of your device for an accurate solution: Use this link to find it: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2039298-1862169-16

Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?

Also, unlike the old CRT monitors, it wouldn't be wise to bang or bump the computer to get it working considering how delicate the parts inside the laptops these days Smiley Wink

Perhaps, you could try connecting an alternate/external monitor to the laptop to check if that shows the fuzzy screen as well,

If it does, it would be considered a graphics card malfunction and you could start with updating the drivers by Clicking here

If it does not, it would confirm an LCD malfunction and you may need to replace the LCD by Contacting HP:

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge
