HP Pavilion 15eh-1507sa. Screen is darker than it should be. Always trying to adjust brightness, contrast etcetera but nothing results in a satisfactory outcome. Have checked gama in Calibrate Display Colour and all looks OK. Have tried adjusting everything in AMD software, contrast, brightness, etcetera. The best result is turning down saturation by about10-15% but this is a compromise and the result is not satisfactory. The normal saturation seems to result in the screen being darker than it should be. I have had computer for 4 months so have searched for latest drivers and everything seems to be up to date.
Many thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

Hi @mountjoy,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've already done some thorough troubleshooting for your HP Pavilion 15-eh1000 laptop screen issue, but since the screen still appears darker than it should, I suggest trying a few additional steps to help address the problem:
1. Check AMD Graphics Driver Settings
Since you've already tried adjusting the display settings in the AMD software, let's try resetting all settings to default:
- Open the AMD Radeon Settings app.
- Go to Display and choose Restore Defaults to reset the settings.
- After resetting, adjust the brightness and contrast again to see if that improves the display.
2. Check Windows Display Settings
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Make sure Brightness is set to the maximum level.
- Scroll down to Advanced display settings > Display adapter properties.
- In the window that opens, go to the Color Management tab > Advanced.
- Click on Calibrate display and go through the steps to recalibrate the screen to ensure proper brightness and color settings.
3. Adjust Night Light Settings
Windows has a Night Light feature that can make the screen appear darker or with reduced blue light. Check if it's turned on:
- Go to Settings > System > Display.
- Scroll down and make sure Night Light is turned off.
- If it is on, turning it off might help restore the normal brightness.
4. Update or Reinstall AMD Graphics Driver
Even if your drivers are up to date, sometimes reinstalling can help resolve issues:
- Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters.
- Right-click on your AMD Radeon graphics card and select Uninstall device (make sure to check "Delete the driver software for this device" if prompted).
- After uninstalling, restart your laptop.
- Once restarted, Windows should reinstall the driver automatically, or you can download and install the latest driver from the AMD website.
5. Check for BIOS or Firmware Updates Software and Drivers for HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eh1xxx (6X1Z1U8)
A BIOS or firmware update might resolve any potential issues with the display.
- Go to the HP Support website, enter your model number, and check for any BIOS updates available for your specific model.
6. Perform a System Diagnostics Test on HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
Use HP’s built-in diagnostics tool to check if there are any hardware-related issues with the display:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly to open the HP Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run the Display Test to see if any hardware errors related to the screen appear.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Gaya1239,
Thankyou for your help. I am working my way through your suggestions. I have done the tests, pressing F2 on start up but I was not sure which specific test I should do so I think I have done them all and they were all passes, I did the touch screen test but I thought that was to see if the 'touch' element was working not the quality of the screen. I will have more time at the weekend so i will be able to do everything them,
Thanks again,
Douglas

Hi Gaya1239,
I tried everything. I left the removing the driver to last as I was nervous about not having a driver but it did reappear after restarting, to my relieve but the screen was still the same. Is there anything else I can try please?
Thank you,
Mountjoy
