hp envy x360 m6 convertible

Greetings,
I just purchased a new laptop. My last HP has lasted me almost 6 years and is still running strong. My new one, seems to have these random screen spasms where a line will split across the screen like a cracked windshield, only for a split second but it is very repetative and will not go away. Any help would be great, I am not good with computers so please, break it down to stupid level for me.

Hi @zhicks16,

Welcome to the HP Forum! It is a terrific place to find answers and tips! For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide. First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. When posting please include your precise model and not just the series as HP produces many models in a series.  HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number? What operating system are you running?

I understand that this is a very recent purchase and it seems to have these random screen spasms where a line will split the screen like a cracked windshield, only for a split second but it is very repetitive and does not go away. I will assume that you are running Windows 10.

Does this occur when running a particular program or with all of them?

Have you done all your Windows updates?

Have you run the HP Support Assistant to aid with HP updates?

If you connect an external display does it do the same thing?

I am sorry if i posted wrong. I am not good with computers. Your reply helped, it is a hardware issue aparently. I will just take the computer back and stick with my old one. I do not understand why something new cannot just work like it is supposed to.

I use google translator. I'm from Russia. I have a similar problem with the HP ENVY. I turned off the touch screen driver and can work. But I was upset that I can not use a laptop with a complete feature set. I plan to give my laptop under warranty, and the problem is likely with chips instead of with the program
