The display looks washed out - the contract is very bad where it's very hard to make out letters. Especially the black colors appear gray. I have seen this issue posted an alarming number of times and I am not able to see a solution as HP just forwards the person to their support group. I've done everything I've read on the chats and I believe the same response will be posted here so I'd like to note that I've done the following:
1. Checked display on external monitor. External monitor is good, the HP laptop is the only one washed
2. Checked Bios (F10 after rebooting)
3. Factory reset
4. Disabled and enabled graphics cards
5. Unplugged batteries and restarted
6. I have 3 other HP laptops and compared using the same background and there is a clear difference
This appears to be a hardware issue. My problem is, I purchased this laptop for my in-law on November 20, 2021. They are not computer savvy and didn't realize the display is washed and simply thought their vision was to blame. I opened their laptop for the first time and saw this issue, unfortunately 7 months after expiration of the warranty.
Any help is appreciated

Welcome to the HP support community.
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
