Steps I took that helped me and now my x360 rotates every time and changes to tablet mode automatically (got me emotional after 2 years of unusability of the feature haha):

1. Uninstall Virtual buttons. Not via Device Manager as they re-install themselves on next start-up.

To do that permanently (they will be visible in DM but not active anymore), press Windows button + X >> Applications and Functions >> wait for the list of your applications to refresh, took about 40 seconds in my case >> scroll down to Intel Virtual Buttons > Uninstall.

2. The same way I uninstalled Intel Integrated Sensors Solution. After countless fiddling with sensors device settings in Device Manager, I noticed that when I go to Integrated Sensors Service and I perform Stop and Start again routine, the screen rotation worked for like a minute and then stopped again, so I figured it might be something wrong with the driver for them on latest W10 system. When you uninstall them like the Virtual Buttons, the Screen Rotation button to disappear from the Notifications area, but they are still visible in the Device Manager like Virtual Buttons are even when inactive permanently. Then I had a bit of a panic cos Intel website has only drivers for Linux machines on their support website.. so then I headed over to HP Support below..

3. Search for your product  >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops

4. Agree the website to run product detection (x2 OK), let it run and it should come up with the laptop you're using. Choose that product (in my case only one correctly showed up below to choose from).

5. Let it discover the list f drivers for your machine, give it a moment.

6. Go to BIOS section of the drivers and install what's there. I had two drivers I downloaded and updated - Firmware and BIOS Update so I installed them the order they were on the list. I didn't check if they are newer than ones on my machine already as I assumed that if they are older. installation process would prompt me that they are older than existing ones. It restarted after each update as they are pretty crucial.

7. Once the laptop started again after the 2nd BIOS section update, I let the website discover the drivers for my product again, and I went to the Intel Chipset section. In that list I found the Intel Integrated Sensors Solution driver >> Download >> install >> Restart >> cry happy tears!

Credit goes not just to me but to all the people out there as after reading countless "It still doesnt work" guides where communities tried to help, I combined few trial and errors lessons together, and then narrowed down the advice to the crucial steps 1. Virtual Buttons removal 2. Bios Update 3. Integrated Sensors Solution driver re-install.

Hope it helps!
