When i open few apps and browser there is a graphics disturbance showing on the display and it's increasing until I move my cursor and when stops it's started growing again. Normally on desktop and with some applications, it's fine. Attaching the picture too.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Update Graphics Drivers

Update via Device Manager:

  1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Display adapters section.
  3. Right-click on your graphics card (either Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA depending on your configuration) and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install any available updates.

Check for updates via HP Support Assistant: If you have HP Support Assistant installed, open it and check for any updates for your system, particularly graphics drivers.

Manually download the latest drivers: Visit the official HP support page or the website for your specific GPU brand (Intel, AMD, NVIDIA) to download the latest drivers directly.

2. Disable Hardware Acceleration (for browsers/apps)

Some apps and web browsers use hardware acceleration to improve performance, but this can sometimes cause graphical glitches. Try disabling hardware acceleration in the affected apps and see if it helps.

For Google Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome and go to Settings > Advanced.
  2. Scroll down to System and toggle off Use hardware acceleration when available.
  3. Restart Chrome to see if the issue persists.

For Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Edge and go to Settings > System.
  2. Toggle off Use hardware acceleration when available.
  3. Restart Edge to see if the problem is resolved.

For other apps: Check the app's settings for any options related to hardware acceleration and disable them if available.

3. Test in Safe Mode

 

  • To boot into Safe Mode:
    1. Hold down Shift and click on Restart from the Start menu.
    2. Once your laptop restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
    3. After restarting, press 4 to start in Safe Mode.

4. Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
  3. Restart the laptop and check if the issue persists.

5. Adjust Display Settings (Refresh Rate)

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
  2. Scroll down and click on Advanced display settings.
  3. Under Refresh rate, try changing it to a lower or higher setting (e.g., switch between 60Hz and 120Hz, if supported) and see if this resolves the issue.

6. Run the HP Diagnostics

HP has built-in diagnostic tools that can check the health of your graphics card and other hardware components.

  1. Press the Esc key immediately after turning on your laptop to open the Startup Menu.
  2. Press F2 to run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  3. Choose the Display test to check for any issues with the graphics hardware.

7. Check for Overheating

  • Make sure the fan vents are not blocked and that your laptop is on a hard, flat surface.
  • You can monitor the temperature of your laptop's CPU and GPU using third-party software like HWMonitor or Core Temp.

8. Reset the Laptop or Perform a System Restore

  1. Type System Restore in the Windows search bar and select Create a restore point.
  2. Click on System Restore and follow the prompts to restore your system to a previous point in time when the issue wasn’t present.
