HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-da0000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Envy 17.3-inch Laptop is less than 3 months old.  I noticed that the screen text became fuzzy and appeared to oscillate making it difficult to read. A restart resolved the issue sometimes for a few days.  The problem occurred after I downloaded a free program app called LOGOS.  Even though I uninstalled the app, the problem still occurs periodically.  Drivers are current, system checked for virus's, latest system update is installed, no heating issue, BIOS appears OK.  Any other suggestions?

Hi @Micah3306,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The display issues you're experiencing could be addressed through a variety of solutions, and it's important to approach the problem methodically to isolate the cause.

Start by adjusting your display settings. Check the resolution and scaling, right-click your desktop, head to Display Settings, and confirm that the resolution is set to the recommended value (likely 1920x1080). Scaling should ideally be at 100%. Restart your laptop after making these adjustments to see if the problem resolves itself.

Hardware acceleration can also play a role. For Chrome or Edge browsers, you can disable it under Advanced Settings. If the issue affects the system as a whole, you might need to turn off "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" within your Windows Display settings. Always remember to restart your device after making these changes.

You can also improve text clarity by enabling and adjusting ClearType text through your advanced display settings. Follow the on-screen instructions to refine the text appearance.

If these software changes don't resolve the issue, consider resetting your display driver by using the shortcut Win + Ctrl + Shift + B. This will restart the driver without affecting other operations.

Given that the charger was recently replaced, there may be power fluctuations contributing to the problem. Test your laptop using another compatible charger or operate it on battery mode to confirm if the adapter is a factor.

Also, ensure your display drivers are up to date via the Device Manager. If updating doesn’t work, uninstalling and allowing Windows to reinstall them might do the trick. While at it, verify that your refresh rate is optimized through the advanced display settings (aim for 60Hz or the highest available).

Sometimes, a hard reset can work wonders. Power down your laptop, unplug the charger, and remove the battery. Hold the power button for 30 seconds, reconnect everything, and restart.

Keep an eye on background apps through the Task Manager. High CPU or GPU usage by an unknown process could interfere with display functionality.

Safe Mode testing could provide insights. Boot into Safe Mode by tweaking the Boot options under "msconfig" and check if the display issues persist. If everything looks fine in this mode, a third-party software conflict may be the root cause.

Lastly, if you have access to an external monitor or TV, connect your laptop to it using HDMI. If the external display appears fine while the laptop screen remains problematic, the issue might lie with your laptop's display panel or internal connections.

Should the problem occur only when charging, it’s likely linked to the new 150W charger, consider testing another compatible HP charger.
