The laptop is plugged in.
Under power options in Control panel there are the default settings: turn off the display after 5min when on battery, and after 10min when plugged in.
I don't use screen saver (even though I've tried to test it setting a 10min wait in that dialog box).
What else should I do to make the screen stay on for as long as I want it to?

Hi @geotso
Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
Flower_Bud is at your service.
As I understand, notebook goes to sleep mode after 1-2 minutes of inactivity.
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
When was the last time it worked fine?
Were there any hardware/software changes?
Let's try these steps:
1. Please update chipset driver from the link: Click Here
2. Perform BIOS update following instructions from article: Click Here
Please set sleep settings following steps from the link.
For more troubleshooting, you could refer to this document: HP PCs - Sleep and Hibernate Issues (Windows 10, 😎
Keep me posted,
Have a great day 🙂
Cheers!
