I have just bought the Envy x360 ay0008na which comes with a HP USB-C to HDMI adapter in the box (that says it supports DP Alt mode). I plug this adapter into the USB-C port, then plug a HDMI monitor into the adapter, and the laptop cant detect the monitor.
The website for this laptop says it should support this:
https://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=2S897EA&opt=ABU&sel=NTB
specifically "1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge)"
However it does not detect the monitor. Looking through these forums, some people say it should work, others say no only the Intel versions with Thunderbolt 3. Which is it?
If it does not support it, then why does the website say it does, and why does it come with a USB-C to HDMI adapter in the box?
If it does support it, do I then have a broken unit? I have tried updating all latest drivers, windows updates, removing and reinserting, restarting etc and nothing works. But if it is not even meant to work then there is no point me trying all this stuff.
Thanks.

Its specs

Yes it does with a right adapter. You can also use USB-C Gen 5 dock and will get full single cable setup.
Regards.

@banhien I agree according to the specs it should work.
So the fact that it does not detect the monitor, does that mean I have a broken unit? As I am using the adapter provided in the box.
Many people seem to be asking the same question, and many people seem to simply refer to the specs and say it should work, but I have not had anyone actually try it and confirm it actually does work.
I have seen someone with the the same problem get a reply from HP stating the specs are wrong/misleading, as only Intel versions with Thunderbolt 3 can output display through the USB-C, and they would pass on the mistake to marketing to update the specs on the website. Can anyone confirm either way?
To be clear, I am not simply looking for someone to point to the specs saying it does support it, I know that. I want to know is this spec a mistake, or do I have a defective unit.
Thanks
