HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-es1000 (446V7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

When using my 15" x360 Envy (11th gen Intel) in tablet mode, I've noticed that when writing in cursive (without lifting the pen off the screen between letters) the strokes get smaller and smaller the longer I write, so the letters appear to shrink towards the end of each word. What is causing this? How can I fix it?

Hi@z2minig3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP ENVY X360 Laptop PC when writing letters appear to shrink.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Updating the BIOS did not help and the support assistant it up to date. This laptop was purchased only a few days before I posted that message. Is there any way to escalate this to someone in at HP engineering who worked on the pen functionality?

Since you removed my video link, here is a photo showing the difference between writing in print letters (which is fine) and writing in cursive (where the strokes are shrunk towards the end of a word)

Update: After more testing, I noticed that the problem does not happen if I write cursive slowly. I think the problem is that the cursor lags slightly behind the pen position, and on long cursive words when writing quickly the pen gets too far ahead of the cursor and the digitizer can no longer track the pen strokes completely, so the letters start to shrink because only part of the strokes are recorded. I have now tried four active pens (Surface Book pen, Raphael 520 pen, HP MPP 1.51 pen, HP MPP 2.0 pen) with the same results, and these pens do not have this problem on my other device, so it's definitely not the pen.
